hey all! it's been pretty quiet of late. a few things happened since the last time I wrote a journal, so here goes.
My grandpa died a couple weeks ago, so I had a good string of days off filled with travel and family, as well as the funeral. My gramps had been sick for a very long time, but it was still tough. It was the first funeral that me and my sister had to go to for someone that was close. Death is weird and hard, and I don't have many other words for it.
On a happier note, my sister, my sister's friend and I got to see Two Door Cinema Club in concert. Waiting 45 minutes for them to come on after the opener was totally worth it, as they had an epic light show. Here's one of their songs in one of my favorite videos: [link]
Besides that, not much happening. I haven't been reading a whole lot lately - just some poetry and trying to get through American Gods. I started reading The Dresden Files but haven't gotten past the first book.
Oh, I played Firewatch last week - pretty good game, honestly. Made me kind of miss living in the middle of nowhere.
I haven't been writing a whole lot either; my creative energy kind of dropped after Gramps died, but I'm hoping to start working on things soon... prompts and the like. DnD is still something I've been doing regularly though, which is nice. Hopefully this week we'll start a new in-person game which is going to be my first game DMing (besides guest-DMing my regular game with my sister, her fiance and our other friend).
hope you're all doing well and enjoying fall! It's been 90 degrees the past few days here though so I feel a little confused

Well, it's been a good while since I've written a journal (almost a year), so a lot has happened in a year, I guess? My sister and her husband bought a house in January, and I moved in with them. My sister's best friend/old college roommate moved in with us in June, which has been great. Um, what else? I've still been struggling with tooth issues but have appointments with specialists in the next couple months. And we got a couple new kitties (Barnie and Winston) who I love very much.
Summer has been busy.. I was on an overnight weekend shift at my job from March to June, so didn't do much in June. In July we had our annual camping

It's been a long time since I've written a journal so I've got quite a few things to talk about.
Managed to make it to a few amusement parks this summer, which was fun. The best amusement park we went to this year was Waldameer World in Erie PA. The Ravine Flyer II coaster was something else, and the log flume had two drops! My sister and I went to Waldameer the same weekend we went to the Twinsburg festival, which was pretty great. This year the theme was video games, so we dressed up as Toad from Super Mario Bros. We also hung out with a pair of twins I knew from college so that was great, too.

Again, I've let time get away from me since the last journal entry. Thanks to Memnalar (https://www.deviantart.com/memnalar)'s generosity, I get to use journal skins again :dummy:
The past three months have been pretty boring. Got used to my new job, braved winter, had two MORE teeth pulled in January thanks to fractures (no more trouble with that though, thank goodness), and just had surgery on my thyroid to remove a nodule: benign but annoying. I have to be out of work until next week, so that's that. Eh. I'm starting to feel a little better though.
As far as what I'm reading/watching/playing, I'm almost completely caught up with Welcome to Nightvale, which feels k

I know I missed last month, but a fair bit of things have gone on.
In my last journal, I mentioned that I had to get a root canal for a molar. As it turns out, the tooth had to be pulled because the root canal failed. :stare: I tried, I guess. I've never had a tooth pulled (when I got my wisdom teeth out, I was put under and had stitches), so it was a little weird when they just popped it out  It's healed well and I'm hoping that's the end of my teeth problems for a while.
I'm starting a new job at the end of the month - I got hired at my sister's work! I'm pretty excited because I'll get my own desk, along with better benefits and the

I didn't like American Gods at all. Thought it was awful.
