“Good news is we're all alive,” Garrett's voice crackled over the walkie-talkie. “Bad news is we've been separated, the island is sinking, and we can't leave right yet.”
Mia sighed. “What do you mean, we can't leave? Julie should be able to copter us out.”
“I wish. There's something preventing us from leaving the perimeter. Don't worry, I found a map. I'm sending it to your radar right now.” Mia pulled her equipment out of the sand. A detailed map appeared on her screen. “We've got to find pieces of four different treasures, get them blessed or something at a temple, and then can we leave. Did I mention that the island is being flooded?”
“Yeah, you did.”
“Okay, good,” Garrett said.
“No, it's not good!” Mia screeched into the walkie-talkie. “This is impossible! We're all going to drown before we get the treasures in time!”
“Well, you won't drown at least,” Garrett said. “You're the diver, you'll be able to dive between the parts of the island that are flooded. Sasha's an engineer, so he has equipment to shore up sections twice as fast. And I'm the excellent expedition leader, of course.”
Mia rolled her eyes. “Sasha is annoying,” she said. “He thinks he's better than the rest of us.” There was a sudden rumble underneath her feet and water rushed up to past her waist.
“Sounds like you're flooding already,” Garrett said. “Hurry up, Julie and Sasha have already found treasure pieces. It's time to leave your grudges behind.”
Mia left Garrett with the last word and finished collecting her equipment.
She'd just have to give Sasha hell some other time.

merry christmas, darling.
there are grapes lying in the bottom of my fridge, squashed and drained of juice.
my heart is wrinkled and brown like those little green balloons.
your love has taken away what was once sweet and refreshing.
you made our throats moist, banishing what was once dry like rubbing sand grains into the soles of your feet.
as the last ornament is left dangling from a branch of the tree, i look around the empty room.
pine needles and smashed snow globes are gathering dust where you should be.
i kick away the box i was going to give to you, wrapped in a thousand stars.

30 - It's the attack of the butterflies
There's a feeling out there that plagues many a poem and song.
I never believed I would be stupid enough to fall for the trap.
Thinking I had enough control on myself, my emotions. Thinking I was smart.
Smart enough to not let myself care for the forbidden. The taken.
I know right? Foolish.
It's new to me. My body and mind pose a mutiny.
Thoughts seem clear cut in my head. Focused.
But my heart shrieks out 'is our sanity dead?!'
I tell myself, next time I see him I'll just be myself.
I'm sure he has those flaws.
Maybe he drools in his sleep, stinky feet, who knows?
But my treacherous core says ''who cares?''
I see him strike the guitar,

Weird Like Grammar
The weirdest things make me happy
Like being alone in public,
And standing in line for coffee
Wanting to get something different,
But chickening out and saying,
"Fuck it,
I'll have what she's having"
And that day she was having a drink called Ramona
Constantly changing her hair
In a world where people stare
informally at the informality
Of ordering someone else's drink for them
I memorized yours
With ever passing day,
I gave myself away
In take out boxes
Restaurant bills
And small recipes for tea
You told me stories of the people you knew
I told you stories,
Secretly about you
The strangest th

Hey, there's nothing wrong with multiple takes on the same game. If anything, it's making me more and more sure I need to get hold of a copy myself!
“Okay, good,” Garrett said.
“No, it's not good!”
